Cowbridge Railway

The Cowbridge Railway was a British railway company based in south Wales .

The company received on July 29, 1862 the right to build a railway line from Llantrisant south to Cowbridge . In Llantrisant there was a transition to the South Wales Railway . The line was opened in February 1865 for freight traffic and on September 18, 1865 for passenger traffic. Initially, the company operated independently and also purchased used locomotives. From July 21, 1873, the Great Western Railway took over operations.

The Taff Vale Railway leased the line from 1876 and took it over on August 26, 1889.

On November 26, 1951, the passenger traffic and on November 1, 1965 due to the Beeching ax, the freight traffic was stopped.
