past

Craig went to high school and graduated after ten year. He founded The Vines with high school friends Patrick Matthews on bass and David Oliffe on drums. When she first appeared at a friends house at a party, Craig was so nervous that he had a nervous breakdown and was unable to play.

successes

The Vines recorded their debut album Highly Evolved with producer Rob Schnapf in Los Angeles. During the recording, drummer David Oliffe left the band and was replaced by Hamish Rosser. The single Highly Evolved became successful and started at number 32 in the UK . Get Free , Outtathaway and Homesick were other single releases. Highly Evolved has been sold 1.5 million times. The sudden success proved difficult for Nicholls and caused a great deal of effort for everyone.

In 2004 the band moved to Bearsville and began recording their second album, Winning Days , which started at No. 7 in Australia, No. 23 in the US and No. 32 in the UK. The first single Ride was sold to Apple for a commercial.

In mid-2005 the band announced that they would record their third album in Australia with producer Wayne Connolly. In 2006 the third album Vision Valley came out. The first single was the song Don't listen to the radio .

Asperger syndrome

During a commercial for Triple M Radio , bassist Patrick Matthews walked off the stage after Nicholls insulted the audience and instructed them not to speak during the performance. He never played with The Vines again (he joined the band Youth Group ) and Triple M banned The Vines from their program and banned them from ever playing there again.

Nicholls hit a photographer for which he had to pay a fine. It was discovered during Nicholl's trial that he had Asperger's Syndrome , a form of autism . The ad was later dropped.
