Craiglockhart Castle

Craiglockhart Castle is a ruined castle in the suburb of Craiglockhart of the Scottish capital Edinburgh . The ruins of Tower House are on the Craiglockhart campus of Edinburgh Napier University north of Wester Craiglockhart Hill .

Historic Scotland noted that the Lockharts of Lee built the tower block in the 15th century, although other sources state that it was built in the 12th century at the behest of the Kincaird family .

The tower was originally four stories high, today only the ground floor and parts of the first floor are preserved. The floor plan is 8.7 meters × 7.5 meters, the walls are 1.5 meters thick. Historic Scotland has classified Craiglockhart Castle as a Scheduled Monument .
