The ruins of Creich Castle

Creich Castle is the ruin of a residential tower in the village of Creich in the Scottish county of Fife . The residential tower had an L-shaped floor plan and was three or four stories high.

history

The castle was built in the 11th century as a defensive structure against raids by the Vikings , who raided rich farms south of the Tay . Constantine, Earl of Fife , had it expanded.

The castle belonged to the Earls of Fife until the 13th century . The ruins visible today date from the 16th century.
