Crescentianus of Rome
Crescenti (an) us from Rome or Siena (* 292 in Rome ; † September 14, 303 ibid) is a Christian martyr from the Diocletian persecution of Christians .
At the age of eleven, he was beheaded at the gates of Rome, initially buried in the Priscilla's Coemertorium there and transferred to Siena around 1058. An important cult of the saint developed in Siena.
Representations
He is sometimes depicted as a youthful "head-wearer" ( cephalophore ), stepping on a sword or kneeling with a cross. He is also sometimes depicted during the legendary healing of a blind person.
