Cryptozoon

Cryptozoon Hall , 1883 ( Greek "hidden living being", zoon is not to be understood here in the common sense of "animal") is a form of stromatolites (calcium deposits from cyanobacteria colonies), in the Precambrian ( Archean and Proterozoic , since about 3, 5 billion years ago) and the Old Paleozoic . In the late 19th and early 20th centuries , James Hall (1811–1898) and Charles Doolittle Walcott (1850–1927) described a number of form species (Paraspecies) of this genus.
