Cuartel de Bomberos (Montevideo)

The Cuartel de Bomberos (in German: fire station or fire station), also Cuartel Centenario de Bomberos , is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo .

The building, projected in 1922, is located in the Barrio Cordón on Calle Colonia 1665-1691 on Manzana, which is surrounded by streets Minas , Mercedes and Magallanes , and borders Plaza de los Treinta y Tres in the northwest . It was opened in 1930 on the occasion of the centenary of the constitutional oath ( Jura de la Constitución ). Architect Alfredo R. Campos was responsible for the construction . As the name suggests, the 35 meter high building serves as a fire station.

Since 1995 the building has been classified as a Bien de Interés Municipal .
