from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cuarteron was a Spanish measure of volume and grain , but also a measure of weight in the oil trade.

The measure chain in Valencia as a grain measure was

  • 1 cahiz = 12 barchillas = 48 celemines = 192 cuarterones = 246.28125 liters according to another source = 10,234.51 Parisian cubic inches = 203.0156 liters
  • 1 Cuarteron = 1.28 liters (1.05 liters)

The dimensional chain in the oil trade was

  • 1 oil arroba / arroba menor = 25 libras = 100 cuarterones / panillas = 12,564 liters
  • 1 Cuarteron / Panillas = 0.12564 liters

The dimensional chain as a measure of weight was

  • 1 quintal / hundredweight = 4 arroba = 100 libras = 400 cuarterones = 1,600 onzas = 92,800 ochavas = 460,135 kilograms
  • 1 cuarteron = 1150.34 kilograms
