The cube berlin ( original spelling ) is an office building on Washingtonplatz in the immediate vicinity of Berlin Central Station , which was inaugurated in February 2020. The building is part of the 40 hectare Europacity urban quarter and closes off its southern part.

description

The striking ten-storey building with a width, height and length of 42.5 meters each is characterized by an inwardly folded glass facade. The facade, which is fully designed with folds and creases, reflects the surroundings like a kaleidoscope . In addition to their individual appearance, the folds fulfill several practical tasks: behind them there are small terraces on each upper floor, which are only available to tenants. On the ground floor, catering facilities will move to around 1000 square meters and will form part of a public marketplace. The fully rented area of the commercial building is 17,000 square meters, used by a law firm and Deutsche Bahn , among others .

The interior of the Cube is equipped with the latest technology, including a mobile app control for opening the underground parking barrier and then opening the foyer. The same technology can also be used to find people in the house and the elevator automatically stops on the floor on which the user has his office. - A total of 3800 sensors are installed for the intelligent control.

In addition, the energy generated by solar radiation is used to cool the fresh air supplied. Coated window panes reduce the heating of the interior. The architects 3XN Architects from Copenhagen and the client emphasize that the Cube Berlin is designed to be resource-saving and energy-efficient.

history

The developer of the commercial building planned at the beginning of the 21st century was CA Immo . The eye-catching building was designed by the Danish architecture firm 3XN .
