Cumbuco

Cumbuco is a small fishing village in northeastern Brazil in the state of Ceará . The nearest major city is Fortaleza (35 km), which is also where the Pinto Martins International Airport is located. Cumbuco belongs to the municipality of Caucaia, 8 km away. The infrastructure includes national and international restaurants, bars, discos, shops, car rentals as well as numerous hotels, guest houses and apartments.

The climate is tropical. Due to the proximity to the equator, the annual average temperature is 28 o C. The rainy season is from January to May. The rest of the year the sun shines stronger and it rains less often.

The high dunes are striking in terms of landscape. The palm-covered beach slopes gently to the water and is approx. 20 km long. The special fishing boats that can be seen on the coast of the state of Ceará are called jangadas .

Despite its proximity to the beach, Cumbuco has various freshwater lakes ( lagoas ) that are used for swimming and water sports.

Cumbuco developed into a center of the trend sport kitesurfing . Therefore, many kite surfing schools have settled in recent years.

With a newly emerging steel industry north of Cumbuco, in Pecém, with the aim of creating 500,000 jobs, Cumbuco can also expect strong growth in the future.

The charcoal cogeneration plant for the steel industry is in operation and the rest of the building complex is under construction.
