Curtiss OX-5 is the name given to an engine made by Curtiss Airplane and Motor Company Incorporated that was used in a number of aircraft before and during World War I. The best-known among them was the Curtiss JN-4, built in more than 6800 copies .

The OX-5 is a water-cooled eight-cylinder engine in a V arrangement. It was the first American engine to be mass-produced for aviation. However, at this point in time (1915-1919) it was already out of date.

After the end of the war, a large number of these engines - although they were not considered particularly reliable - were used as replacement engines in various types of aircraft due to their low second-hand price until the 1930s.
