Cute ( / kjuːto / , stylized as ℃ -ute ) is a Japanese girl group founded in 2005 , which belongs to the Hello! Project is subordinate to.
history
° C-ute were founded on June 11, 2005. Its seven female members are the remaining members of the "Hello! Project Kids" who were not selected for the Berryz Kobo group . In January 2006, a member of the "Hello! Project Eggs", Arihara Kanna, joined the initial seven. On October 31, 2006, Megumi Murakami suddenly left the group without a farewell ceremony in order, as it is officially said, to be able to concentrate more on school and her private life.
Even before ° C-ute was founded, some members were involved in other projects with various Morning Musume members, including ZYX and Aa! as well as in the mini Moni film "Okashina Daibouken".
From May to July 2006 ° C-ute released four singles under the status of an indies band. On February 21, 2007 their first major single, Sakura Chirari , was released, which landed at number 3 on the Oricon charts. With an average age of 13, they became the youngest artists to ever make it into the top ten of the Oricon charts.
After Arihara Kanna ° C-ute and "H! P" left on July 9th, 2009 due to illness, it was announced on August 1st of the same year that Umeda Erika would also leave the group on October 25th, 2009 to work as Fashion To work model.
After several successful years with consistently good placements in the Oricon charts, the group announced on August 20, 2016 that it would split up in June 2017. The last concert will take place in the Saitama Super Arena .
