Cyclopyrrolone
Cyclopyrrolones refers to a family of hypnotics and anxiolytic effective non-benzodiazepine agonists with a similar pharmacological profile as the benzodiazepines . They are not chemically related to these, but interact with the GABA receptor in a similar way.
Common to the active ingredients is an N-substituted and hydrogenated pyrrole-2-one structure to which a ring system with or without heteroatoms is fused .
Zopiclone is the best-known active ingredient in this class. Further representatives are:
- Eszopiclone or ( S ) -zopiclone
- Pagoclone
- Pazinaclone
- Suproclone
- Suriclone
It is now believed that the dependence potential which the benzodiazepines equivalent.
Trivia
In an episode of the series “Tatort” broadcast in June 2018, a substance called “cyclopyrrolone” was found in the blood of a corpse.
