Cynar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cynar ( tʃiˈnar ) is an Italian liqueur ( amaro ) made from artichokes ( Cynara scolymus ) and herbs of reddish-brown color. It has a slightly bitter, tart-sweet taste. The alcohol content is 16.5% vol.

Because of its content of artichoke ingredients ( cynarin ), Cynar is considered digestive and is therefore well suited as a digestif . It can be drunk either neat or as a long drink , classic with soda or cola, tonic water or bitter lemon. A lemon or orange wedge in the glass is used for flavoring and decoration.

Cynar is made by the Campari Group .
