Düppeler Sturmkreuz

The Düppeler Sturmkreuz was donated on October 18, 1864 by King Wilhelm I of Prussia for combatants and non-combatants and awarded to people who did a great job in storming the Düppeler Schanzen on April 18, 1864 during the German-Danish War .

The award is a light bronze cross with a laurel wreath under the arms . In the medallion the portrait of the donor facing left with the inscription WILHELM KOENIG VON PRUSSEN all around . On the back the crowned Prussian eagle standing on a cannon barrel pointing to the right can be seen. On the arms of the cross, from top to bottom, the inscription DÜPPEL 18 APR. 1864 .

The award was worn, among other things, on a 32 mm wide ribbon with a wide blue central stripe and narrow white and black side stripes on the left chest.

For non-combatants who belonged to or served the Order of St. John or the Order of Malta, a special cross was made of blackened iron on April 18, 1865. It was worn on the 30 mm wide ribbon of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern .
