Düsseldorf sur place is a boules and pétanque sports club in Germany.
The Union
The association was founded in 1987 in Düsseldorf and is a member of the German Pétanque Association .
Originally there was a game community at the beginning of the 1970s (later: the Brückenkinder) that met regularly in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel under Rheinkniebrücke, once a popular meeting place for the Düsseldorf boules scene, which at that time was mostly made up of gallery owners (e.g. Alfred Schmela) and artists, architects and other creative people.
Players of the association have repeatedly won German championship titles and have participated in European and world championships as selected players of the German pétanque association. Düsseldorf sur place has also won several German club championships and has been playing in the top German league since the Pétanque Bundesliga (DPB) was founded. The main focus of the club's activities are both popular and top-class sport and the development of youth work. Since the 2006 summer season, the club's playground with 32 lanes has been located at Pariser Strasse 65 on the local sports facility.
Boulehalle Düsseldorf
In December 2008, a modern boules hall with 16 fairways was opened next to the outdoor play area. On a total area of approx. 900 m², different play options and tournaments are offered here from October to March.
Pétanque Festival
Once a year - usually on the weekend of week 23 - the association organizes the Festival de Pétanque in cooperation with the subsidiary Effet GmbH, which was founded in 2001 . This tournament offer is one of the largest pétanque sports events in Germany. The play area is located on the Rhine promenade in the heart of Düsseldorf's old town. In the past five years, more than 1000 players from Germany and abroad have participated in the four different tournaments Trophée sur place , Grand Prix de Düsseldorf , Düsseldorf Ouvert and Stadtwerke Düsseldorf Cup .
