Düsseldorf cow war

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Düsseldorf Cow War took place in 1651. Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg tried to turn the Jülich-Klevischen succession dispute with a bold coup. His opponent was Wolfgang Wilhelm von Pfalz-Neuburg . The name was a mockery for the preying of cows on the grounds of the castle of the Countess of Pfalz-Neuburg near Düsseldorf. The conflict was settled by Otto Christoph von Sparr .
