DB class 088

The series 088, 188 and 288 are collective names in the area of Deutsche Bahn AG for all historical traction vehicles that are no longer part of the active operating stock, but which are still in stock. However, this series designation is usually »imaginary«, as it is used in the IT for administrative purposes, but is usually only noted on the driver's cab on the vehicles concerned . The original and different vehicle numbers are still written on the outside.

The collective series have the following meaning:

• Class 088: historic steam locomotives
• Series 188: historic electric locomotives
• Class 288: historic diesel locomotives
• Class 488: historic electric multiple units
• Class 688: historic diesel multiple units
