The DIN standard DIN 13071 (restraint systems for patients in the hospital room) was a German standard for medical technology . It regulated the comfortable and all-round safe positioning of patients. For example, when exposed to an impact of ten g (this corresponds to ten times their own weight) forwards, sideways, backwards and upwards, the systems must not transform themselves into a projectile and their displacement must not endanger people.

The standard was withdrawn in December 1999 and is now part of EN 1789 , which regulates the minimum equipment required for emergency vehicles .

Child restraint systems were included in DIN 13071 in 1996. The systems are used for children for whom the regular adult straps on the stretcher do not fit. Depending on the model, the child restraint system covers the age and weight classes from infants to toddlers. Schoolchildren's solutions (6-10 years) are also defined.
