The DIN standard DIN 4713 Consumption-dependent heating cost billing is a standard that deals with the stipulations for billing heating costs that are valid for Germany . The standard consists of the two parts DIN 4713-1 Consumption-dependent heat cost billing ; General, terms and DIN 4713-5 Consumption-dependent heat cost billing ; Distribution of operating costs and billing .
The standard is used, among other things, to determine the heating costs for a rented apartment from measurements with heat meters.
Degree day table
In DIN 4713-5, the so-called degree day table defines how the heating costs are distributed over the individual months or days with annual readings.
month | Percentage ownership ‰ | Share per day in ‰ |
---|---|---|
January | 170 | 170/31 = 5.48 |
February | 150 | 150/28 = 5.35 150/29 = 5.17 |
March | 130 | 130/31 = 4.19 |
April | 80 | 80/30 = 2.66 |
May | 40 | 40/31 = 1.29 |
June to August together | 40 | 40/92 = 0.43 |
September | 30th | 30/30 = 1.00 |
October | 80 | 80/31 = 2.58 |
November | 120 | 120/30 = 4.00 |
December | 160 | 160/31 = 5.16 |
Calculation example
There were 1000 euros heating costs for the apartment over a year. The apartment was rented for 15 days in November. The distribution of heating costs for these 15 days results from the following calculation according to the table:
- 1000 euros × (120 ‰ / 30 days) × 15 days = 60 euros.
According to the degree day table, 120 ‰ of the annual costs are divided for November. November has 30 days and the apartment was rented for 15 days. This results in heating costs of 60 euros.
