The German Notary Institute (DNotI) is a scientific institution of the Federal Chamber of Notaries . It is based in Würzburg .

tasks

The DNotI is an institution for quality assurance in the notary's office in Germany. It provides scientific advisory services to notaries from all over Germany. Every notary is entitled to direct inquiries to the institute. The DNotI also supports the chambers of notaries involved and the Federal Chamber of Notaries (Section 17 (2) sentence 1 of the Federal Chamber of Notaries' statutes).

The DNotI advises on notary-specific questions of civil law, the law of voluntary jurisdiction, commercial, corporate and tax law, international and foreign private law and the law of reunification. The professional and cost law are excluded. The advice is mainly provided through the preparation of practice-related and scientifically sound reports.

The institute publishes the DNotI-Report, a bi-monthly bulletin. The DNotI report publishes the institute's reports, commented case law and references to new legislative procedures.

The DNotI maintains the Internet database "DNotI Online Plus". This contains around 13,600 expert opinions, 15,400 documents on case law and more than 2,300 articles from notary magazines (as of December 2015).

Approx. 8,000 requests for reports are made every year.

Presentations

The DNotI is divided into five sections:

  • Section I: General Section (Real Estate Law)
  • Section II: Commercial, Company and Tax Law
  • Section III: Section for International and Foreign Private Law
  • Unit IV: Law of Reunification
  • Section V: Inheritance and Family Law

In addition to permanent lawyers, notary assessors also regularly work for a limited time at the DNotI.
