The Federal Chamber of Notaries is a German corporation under public law , the members of which are the 21 chambers of notaries throughout Germany. The chambers of notaries in the federal states include the notaries appointed in their area , of which there were 7,328 in 2014.
Duties of the Federal Chamber of Notaries
The Federal Chamber of Notaries is responsible according to Section 78 of the Federal Notaries Act essentially represents the entirety of German notaries in the national and international area. It acts in the legislative process with and met them through opinions and advice on draft legislation, participation in working and expert groups of the relevant federal ministries , suggestions on legislative initiatives, etc. The education and training of notaries is a further object.
No professional supervision
The professional supervision of notaries is not one of the tasks of the Federal Chamber of Notaries. Professional supervision over them is exercised by the locally competent regional court presidents as judicial administrative authorities. The local chambers of notaries support this. The Federal Chamber of Notaries is also not responsible for supervising the chambers of notaries.
Pension register
The Federal Chamber of Notaries operates the Central Pension Register , in which power of attorney and care directives can be registered - each also in connection with living wills.
Central register of wills
Since January 1, 2012, the Federal Chamber of Notaries has also kept a central register of wills for recording succession-relevant documents (in particular wills and inheritance contracts ).
German notary institute
The Federal Chamber of Notaries has maintained a scientific institution with the German Notaries' Institute in Würzburg since 1993, which processes technical inquiries from notaries and prepares expert opinions.
Examination office for the notarial specialist examination
The examination office for the notarial specialist examination at the Federal Chamber of Notaries is a professionally independent and independent administrative unit at the Federal Chamber of Notaries established in accordance with Section 7 g of the Federal Notarial Code (BNotO). The examination office conducts the notarial specialist examination for lawyers who want to be admitted as a lawyer notary. This is a uniform test for all federal states in the area of notarial lawyers.
