Jens Bormann

Jens Bormann (* 1971 ) is a German notary and has been President of the Federal Chamber of Notaries since 2015 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Hattingen (Ruhr) , Bormann studied law at the Universities of Konstanz and Geneva (Switzerland) from 1991 to 1996 and then from 1996 to 1998 legal trainee in Freiburg (Breisgau) and Paris . Until 2001 he worked as a research assistant or research assistant at the Institute for German and Foreign Civil Procedure Law at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Breisgau) and was a postgraduate student at Harvard Law School in Cambridge (Massachusetts / USA) with a master’s degree in 2001/02 of Law (LL.M.). In 2002 he was awarded a Dr. iur. at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg (Breisgau) with a comparative dissertation (at Rolf Stürner ) PhD . He then worked as a notary assessor in the Rhineland from 2002 to 2006 .

From 2006 to 2011 he worked as chief executive of the Federal Chamber of Notaries in Berlin and was editor of the German magazine notary (DNotZ). Bormann has been working as a notary in Ratingen since 2011 . He has been President of the Federal Chamber of Notaries since 2015 , Vice President of the Rhenish Chamber of Notaries since 2016 and Honorary Professor at Leibniz University Hannover since 2017 .
