Torsten Sohns

Torsten Sohns (* 1952 ) is a German physician and medical officer in the Bundeswehr , since August 1, 2008 in the rank of general physician . Sohns was retired with effect from May 1, 2012. He was head of the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz . As an expert in medical NBC protection, he published several specialist articles.

biography

Sohns joined the Bundeswehr as a pioneer in 1971 and switched to the career of medical officer candidates a year later . As such, he studied human medicine at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster from 1972 and received his doctorate in 1978. After being employed in the inspection of the sanitary and health services of the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) and at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), headed From 1998 to 2002 he was already in the field of studies and sciences at the medical academy with the then associated institutes for radiobiology , microbiology and pharmacology and toxicology . After that he was head of department in the management staff of the medical service in the Ministry of Defense until the beginning of 2008 . On January 29, 2008, he officially took over command of the Bundeswehr Medical Academy in Munich. He was promoted to general physician on August 1, 2008. On November 29, 2010, he moved to the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz as chief physician and was in charge of it until his retirement. He leads the additional qualifications occupational medicine and sports medicine and is a renowned flight surgeon .
