The Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology of the German Armed Forces ( InstPharmToxBw ) in Munich conducts research in the field of medical carbon protection. It is recognized worldwide for its expertise.

history

The institute was originally set up in the mid-1960s in a barracks in Garching-Hochbrück that the US armed forces had abandoned . At that time there were 15 employees. The actual Institute for Microbiology of the Bundeswehr was founded in 1984 and at that time already had 28 employees.

In December 2001 the institute moved into a new building at its current location in the Ernst von Bergmann barracks . Together with the Institute for Radiobiology of the Federal Armed Forces and the Institute for Microbiology of the Federal Armed Forces , the institute became an independent service unit of the Central Medical Service of the Federal Armed Forces and the Medical Office of the Federal Armed Forces . Since 2012, all three institutes are again subordinate to the Medical Academy.
