DR series 99.440

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Several locomotives of the small railways of the Jerichow I (KJI) district were incorrectly classified under the series designation 99.440 at the Deutsche Reichsbahn .

The road number 99 4401 was intended for the locomotive with the number 22 (B n2t) in accordance with the redesignation plan of December 12, 1949 . This was incorrectly recorded as D n2t during the inventory. So this redrawing was not correct.

The locomotive with the number 23 (C n2t) was to be given the road number 99 4301 according to the redesignation plan, but was also redrawn as 99 4401. This locomotive was therefore listed in the statistics as 99 4402 in order to avoid double numbering.

In order to correct this misclassification, the number 22 was redrawn as 99 4721 in 1956 and number 23 as 99 4301 in 1951.

The road number 99 4402 was also given a D n2t locomotive, also from the KJI, probably no.13. Originally, this locomotive had number 99 4501, which was, however, a double occupancy with locomotive 14 taken over from the small railways of the Ost- and Westprignitz districts meant. This locomotive was identical in construction to the D n2t locomotives of the KJI with internal frame (no. 11-14) that were taken over under the series number 99 464 . The reasons for this other assignment are not known. It was likely retired shortly after it was redrawn.
