The D Pfalz 61 is a two-axle compartment car that was built for the Palatinate Railways. Originally a type C wagon - see also sheet no. 033 and 034 - it was listed in the wagon register of the Royal Bavarian State Railway - network on the left bank of the Rhine - from 1913 under sheet no. 053, 059 and 060 are run as type D cars .

procurement

Between 1861 and 1874 a larger number of compartment car of identical dimensions and construction principles was obtained, which subsequently both genus C as well as CPost as a species and from 1907 D were performed. These were both unbraked and braked vehicles. The procurement took place on account of all three sub-companies.

Whereabouts

Individual cars were no longer listed in the car directory of 1913. Due to the age of the wagons, it cannot be assumed that they were taken over by the Reichsbahn in 1920.

Constructive features

Underframe

The chassis frame of the car was still built in a combined wood and iron construction. The outer longitudinal beams were made of profile iron while the buffer beams and all cross members were made of wood. The outer side members were double T-shaped. The wagons had screw couplings as a towing device, and the drawbar was spring-loaded all the way through. The wagons had rod buffers as bumpers with an installation length of 600 mm on both sides for the unbraked wagons. In the case of the braked wagons, the installation length on the brakeman's cab was 800 mm.

drive

The wagons had riveted half-timbered axle brackets made of flat iron with the short, straight design. The axles were stored in split sliding axle bearings. The wheels had spoked wheel bodies and a wheel diameter of 1,024 mm. The elongated suspension was attached to the spring brackets with simple straps. The cars were available in braked and unbraked versions. The brakes acted on all wheels on both sides.

Car body

The car body consisted of a wooden stud frame, the side walls were slightly drawn in downwards, the end walls straight. The roof only had a flat curve. In the braked version of the cars, there was a raised brakeman's cab on one side in front of the bulkhead. The coaches had a total of five 3rd class compartments with 10 seats each. The cars all had long sidewalls with handrails on the car body.

With the wagons according to sheet no. 033 , 059 and 060 there were no passages between the compartments. The wagons according to sheet 053 had a side passage between compartments A and B. Compartments C to E were also connected to one another by side passages.

Furnishing

The car had two gas lights built into the roof for lighting. The pressure vessel with a volume of 280 liters required for the supply hung under the car body in the direction of travel.

The heating took place via steam. For ventilation, the car had ventilators over the windows and compartment doors.
