history

The distillery was founded in 1898 by Wright & Greig Ltd. founded. The name Dallas comes from the Gaelic word for valley and water , Dhu means black . In 1929 the distillery was sold to the Distillers Company Limited (DCL), which they shut down from 1930 to 1936. In 1939 part of the distillery was destroyed by fire, then rebuilt and reopened in 1947. The distillery was closed in 1983 and has been open to the public as a museum since 1988. The old equipment and buildings have been carefully renovated.

In the last few years there have been several plans to reopen the distillery, which have not been implemented for a long time. After a successful feasibility study, the approval process was initiated by the Scottish Monument Authority in early 2017.
