Dalmā Tepe is an archaeological site in the Iranian province of West Azerbaijan . It can be found at the southwest end of Lake Urmi . Dalmā Tepe is located about 5 km southwest of the Ḥasanlū Tepe and north of today's city of Dalmā in the Sulduz plain ( Persian سولدوز).

The hilltop rises about 4 meters above the surrounding plain. Their diameter is approximately 50 meters. The site was explored in 1958/1959 by Charles Burney and also in 1961 in collaboration with T. Cuyler Young Jr. in connection with the Hasanlu Project of The University Museum of Archeology / Anthropology of the University of Pennsylvania and other collaborating institutions. During the excavation, massive amounts of hand-made ceramics were found that had fine sand inclusions and were fired in different colors. The deep red exhibits were particularly striking. Some were gray at heart. Many shards were smooth and unadorned, others had surfaces on which fingerprints had been immortalized or materials such as textile fibers and straw.

Dalmā pottery could be found in various places around Lake Urmi. Very similar contemporary ceramics have been unearthed at Tepe Seavan (Sīāvān) in the Margavar Valley . Also Seh Gabi and Godin Tepe had similar ceramics. By means of 14 C dating and other comparisons, the origin can be traced back to around the 5th millennium BC. To date. Pieces of clay introduced after Dalmā Tepe suggest that they come from Tappa Gaura (northern Iraq ).
