Naghadeh , ( Persian نقده, Azerbaijani Nəğədə , Kurdish : Nexede) is an Iranian city in the province of West Azerbaijan , 23 km from Lake Urmia . Naghadeh was formerly known as Sulduz ( Persian سولدوز) known. The city has over 77,000 inhabitants, the population consists mainly of Azerbaijanis or Karapapaks and Kurds .
history
Naghadeh is located in a region with a long history. The Hasanlu settlement hill is located near the city . Naghadeh itself was founded in 1750/1752 by Turkish Karapapaks who immigrated from the Caucasus . According to Minorsky, the former name Sulduz comes from the name of the Mongolian tribe Sulduz. These played as Tschupaniden an important role in the time of the Ilkhan .
Historic sites
Naghadeh has several historically interesting places, such as Hewt Kany / Yeddi Göz or Sultan Yaghoob . The most important places in and around Naghadeh are:
- Kel-i-Schin -Stele (Kêleşîn): A Urartian - Assyrian bilingual made of blue diorite from the Iron Age, southwest of Lake Urmia .
- Hasanlu : A Mannean settlement mound 12 km northwest of Naghadeh. Hasanlu is known for its golden cup.
- Dalmā Tepe : an archaeological site about 5 km from contemporary Hasanlu
- Some wetlands
- The Zendan and Baha Hasan caves

economy
The region lives from agriculture and animal husbandry. The products are sufficient both for self-sufficiency and for export to other cities. The wealth of yields comes from the fertile soil and the water available.
