Battulga started internationally for the first time at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary . There he finished 69th place over 30 km classic and 15 km classic and 60th place over 50 km freestyle. In March 1990, he won the bronze medal with the relay at the Winter Asian Games in Sapporo .
