Lady's speech

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A ladies' speech is a speech that is given at a party to the ladies or to a single lady and is intended to emphasize their merits.

Ladies' speeches are particularly common in student associations , where they are among the highlights at festivals like the Kommers and are usually given by the consenior or the youngest fox . Ladies' speeches are also held at celebrations of other clubs such as shooting clubs , gymnastics clubs and music clubs as well as on other occasions such as foundation festivals and graduation ceremonies .

A lady's speech is often delivered in poetry , but prose form is also common. It should be amusing, but not derogatory, vulgar or obscene.

According to the journalist and publicist Friedhelm Franken (* 1943), the women's speech probably has its origin in the Minnerede .
