Dametzhof
The Dametzhof is a municipal housing of the city of Linz with 188 apartments built between 1927 and 1928 according to the plans of Curt Kühne and was named after the former mayor Josef Dametz . The residential complex is a listed building.
The 13 five-storey residential buildings were built in a U-shape on Hyrtlstrasse, Reischekstrasse and Körnerstrasse. The construction was carried out under the direction of the municipal building authority with Matthäus Schlager , Friedrich Gangl, Karl Pader, Ernst Hillbrand, Vaterländische Baugesellschaft, Humer & Krenmayr.
Kühne's architecture set accents with corner parts protruding like a riser. The ground floor as a base zone and the staircase axes were expressively executed in clinker construction. Acute-angled oriels protrude from the corner sections and courtyard fronts. The dusters were decorated in bright colors.
In the street courtyard of Dametzhof facing Weissenwolffstrasse, which is open to the south, a two-storey intermediate building, the so-called clubhouse , with a hipped roof in the style of the Nazi era was built around 1942 . The building is also a listed building.
From 2002 to 2004 13 lifts were built outside. 2007 in coordination with the Federal Monuments Office , a thermal insulation made and added superior balcony towers, which most homes a loggia received. To Kühne's architecture, its unique meanders on the eaves have been restored. The wooden stairs, wooden platforms and apartment entrance doors of the staircases, including the former wall paintings, have also been restored true to the original.
