Matthäus Schlager
Matthäus Schlager (born April 10, 1870 in Sigharting , † December 30, 1959 in Linz ) was an Austrian architect who held the office of master builder in Linz from 1909 .
Life
Matthäus Schlager was born as the fifth child of the farmers Matthäus and Elise Schlager (née Hochegger) on the estate of the same name in Unterholzen 1. The boy, who is considered to be clever and alert, learned the mason trade at Forier Heumader after primary school. Then he attended the state craft school in Linz. In 1890 he joined the k. & K. State trade school in Reichenberg (Bohemia) about. Finally, back in Linz, he passed the master builder examination. First a self-employed master builder in Ried im Innkreis , he then brought him to Linz, master builder Franz Statz , whose successor he was in 1909 as head of the cathedral and master builder of the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary . From 1927 to 1931 he was a Christian Social Councilor in Linz.
His grave is located in the St. Barbara cemetery in Linz.
Personal
In 1899 he married the coal merchant's daughter Maria Hammerl from Wels. There were four children from this marriage.
