The Roman Catholic parish church Micheldorf in Upper Austria is located in the municipality of Micheldorf in Upper Austria in the Kirchdorf an der Krems district in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to St. Joseph and belongs to the Windischgarsten Dean's Office in the Diocese of Linz . The building is a listed building .

history

Micheldorf was originally cared for by the parish of Kirchdorf . The church in Heiligenkreuz was also looked after from Kirchdorf. Under Joseph II , Heiligenkreuz became an independent parish church at the end of the 18th century. At the end of the 19th century, Micheldorf called for its own parish church. After the unsuccessful establishment of a church building association in 1885, which ended its work after just five years, a new church building association was founded in 1905. He bought a piece of land in 1908. In 1910 the construction of the church could begin. Due to the outbreak of the First World War , however, only the foundation and the base masonry could be completed. From January 1, 1926, Micheldorf was an independent parish exposition. In 1930 the original plans for the parish church were revised by Richard Puchner and in 1931 the construction of the church was resumed. In 1934, the unfinished building was consecrated by Alois Wiesinger , Abbot of Schlierbach Abbey . The completion of the church fell victim to the Second World War . From 1950, construction continued according to plans by Matthäus Schlager , so that Bishop Franz Zauner was able to consecrate the church to St. Joseph on September 5, 1953. At the same time it was elevated to a parish church and the intended parish parish was removed from the mother parish of Kirchdorf.

However, the Micheldorfer parish church did not yet have a "real" bell tower, only a temporary wooden tower. In 1954, a tape recorder with the Mariazell peal was installed as a replacement bell. It was not until 1977 that the construction of the bell tower planned by the architect Vierthaler and created by the construction company Roidinger was carried out. The market town donated four bells. The consecration of the bells was carried out by Auxiliary Bishop Alois Wagner and Abbot Otmar Rauscher on September 24, 1977.

The parsonage and the parsonage are from the years 1956 and 1965. In 2007 and 2008 the church square was rebuilt and redesigned.

Church interior

Lukas Hummelbrunner , Frater in Schlierbach Abbey, designed the windows in the nave in 1972, while the glass windows in the choir were designed by Basilia Gürth in 1981. The frescoes were painted by the painter Franz Kohler in 1995. On the left of the high altar are "Scenes from the Revelation of John " and on the right "Christ as the center of the creation and completion of the world".

Furnishing

The high altar with the altar painting "Grandparents of Jesus with Maria" was made by Ignaz Mähl in 1756 and was originally in Schlierbach Abbey. The ambo and the people's altar are works by the Linz sculptor Udo Kirchmayr and are made of wood. In the organ gallery there is a cycle of pictures with scenes from the life of Jesus. The statues of the two side altars, Mary on the left and Jesus on the right, were made by the sculptor Franz Forstner in 1959. The Way of the Cross was carved in 1971 by the sculptor Johann Hinteregger .

organ

The organ is in a baroque case. A harmonium was in service until 1973, on July 14, 1973 an organ with 16 registers and 1246 pipes came from the Johann Pirchner organ workshop in Stainach. The instrument cost 550,000 schillings at the time (today, adjusted for inflation, the equivalent of 157,653 euros).
