Catholic parish church of St. Johannes d. T. and Johannes Ev. in Kopfing im Innkreis

The Roman Catholic parish church Kopfing is in the place Kopfing im Innkreis in the market town of Kopfing im Innkreis in the district of Schärding in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated to Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist , belongs to the Andorf deanery in the diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .

history

A church was documented in the 12th century. The parish of Kopfing belonged to the St. Aegidien Hospital in the Passau Innstadt since the 12th century . The local "Innbruckamt" administered the Innbrücke and the Leprosen-Hospital as well as the parishes incorporated into the St. Aegidien Hospital, which were to be assigned by the respective "Bruckpfarrer". In addition to St. Severin with Schardenberg and Wernstein , these included St. Weihflorian , Kellberg , Hauzenberg , Kopfing, Münzkirchen and Tettenweis .

The substructure of the tower has been preserved from the Gothic church building. The current church was rebuilt in 1904/1905 with the master builder Matthäus Schlager .

architecture

The Gothic west tower was preserved in the substructure and converted into an octagon at the top and received a helmet in baroque shapes (1905).

Furnishing

The high altar picture Adoration of the Shepherds , probably from the old high altar, was painted around 1773 in the style of the school of Kremser Schmidt .
