Damoster

The place Damoster is a desert in today's Ludwigslust-Parchim district in western Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Traditional

Damoster was first mentioned in 1492 and was located between Marnitz and the Treptowsee . In the years 1717 and 1726 Damoster and its area was called a desert field mark. In some names, variations of the place name have been preserved to this day, for example: De Mooster (Heidemoor near Marnitz) or Damoster wood . The downfall of the village is probably a consequence of the Thirty Years War .

Place name

The place name is of Slavic origin and may designate the location of a river or stream crossing ( dabimost = tree bridge ).
