Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future
Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future is a British science fiction - comic strip series by Frank Hampson . The comic first appeared in the British boys' magazine Eagle on April 14, 1950. The series appeared weekly until the Eagle was discontinued in 1969.
The comic strips were fully colored . The plot revolves around Dan Dare , his loyal companion named Digby and the green Venus baddie Mekon , the main character's opponent. The British band The Mekons named themselves after this.
In 2003 the British rock musician John Miles composed the stage adaptation Dan Dare - The Musical together with Tom Kelly (book, lyrics) .
