Danau Tamblingan

The Danau Tamblingan is a crater lake in the Buleleng administrative district in the north of the Indonesian island of Bali .

description

The lake is located in the Banjar sub- district in Buleleng County, around 7 kilometers east of Munduk village . It is about 1000 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains. On the shore of the lake is the Pura Gubug temple, dedicated to the goddess of the lake, Dewi Danu. Several other temples, such as the Pura Dalem Tamblingan to the east, surround the lake.

development

The Danau Tamblingan is one of three lakes in a volcanic crater, which probably originally formed a large lake and were partly separated from each other by volcanic activity. The other two lakes, Buyan and Bratan , are east and southeast of Lake Tamblingan, respectively. The Tamblingan and Buyan lakes formed a lake until a landslide in 1818. The Tamblingan is the smallest of the three lakes.
