Danfoss Universe in Nordborg

The Danfoss Universe amusement park was opened on May 5, 2005 by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark , it is located right next to the main building of the Danfoss plant, one of the largest Danish companies, in Nordborg on the southern Danish island of Alsen , approx. 50 km north the Schleswig-Holstein border.

The park is open seasonally, in 2017 from March 31 to October 29 (end of the Danish autumn holidays ), between 10 a.m. and - depending on the season - 4, 5 or 6 p.m. Individual days are reserved for school classes to attend.

Attractions

  • The center of the park is the Blue Cube , Iceland's contribution to EXPO 2000 , in which lightning, a volcano, a glacier and a geyser with a height of 18 meters are simulated.
  • In 2007 the first Segway track in Europe and Denmark's first ice-free outdoor skating rink were inaugurated in the park .
  • The Cumulus exhibition building, designed by the Berlin architect Jürgen Mayer H. , was voted one of the architectural wonders of the world in 2007 by the American magazine Condé Nast Traveler USA . This building uses the latest technology; Among other things, it explains how an iPod works and how to program a computer game .
  • In 2008 the new Lift a car attraction opened , where visitors can use the lever law to lift a car off the ground with their own muscles.

Numerous other attractions have been added since 2009.

Museum train

An association has existed since 2003 that wants to rebuild part of the route of the former Amtsbanerne på Als between Nordborg and Danfoss Universe near Havnbjerg as a museum railway. The first trip on a small stretch of road took place on August 28, 2016.
