Jürgen Hermann Mayer (born October 30, 1965 in Stuttgart ) is a German architect and artist. He is called Jürgen Mayer H. because it is easier to recognize. He runs the J. Mayer H. architectural office together with Andre Santer and Hans Schneider.

life and work

Mayer completed his studies in architecture at the University of Stuttgart , at the Cooper Union College in New York, and at Princeton University .

From 1996 he worked as an architect. He has taught at several universities such as the UdK Berlin , the Technical University of Munich , the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University , the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and Columbia University in New York. Mayer H. has received several prestigious awards and is represented with projects in various collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) New York and MoMA San Francisco. In February 2008 , the J. MAYER H. office was in fourth place in the BauNetz office ranking . From 2010 onwards, Mayer H. realized many projects in Georgia , supported by President Mikheil Saakashvili , such as the airport in Mestia , the border crossing in Sarpi and the rest stops along the new motorway near Gori and Locchini. Other international and national projects are the Metropol Parasol - the redesign of the Plaza de la Encarnacion in Seville , Spain; the courthouse in Hasselt , Belgium and the KA 300 anniversary pavilion, built for the 300th anniversary of the city of Karlsruhe . In 2003, Mayer H. received the internationally renowned Mies van der Rohe Prize for Emerging Architect for the new construction of the town house in Ostfildern .
