Kristin Feireiss

Kristin Feireiss (born July 1, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German exhibition curator and co-founder of the Aedes Architecture Forum in Berlin.

Life

Kristin Lang was born as the third child of the textile merchant Hans Lang and his wife Mady, geb. Neckermann born. Since her parents died in a car accident in 1948, she grew up in the house of her uncle, the founder of the mail-order company and dressage rider, Josef Neckermann .

She began her professional life as a journalist at Springer-Verlag . She had a part-time permanent position at the International Design Center Berlin when she founded the Aedes Architecture Forum together with Helga Retzer in 1980. In Rotterdam she headed the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi) from 1996 to 2001 ; In 2001 she was commissioner of the Dutch pavilion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice .

Feireiss has contributed to a large number of publications on architecture and architecture exhibitions as editor and author of the foreword.

In 1995 she received the DAI Literature Prize and on March 23, 2001 the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . Since 2007 she has been an honorary doctorate engineer at the TU Braunschweig . On May 17, 2013 she was honored with the Royal Dutch Order » Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion «.

Feireiss has two grown children.
