Daniel Casey (actor)

Daniel Casey (born June 1, 1972 in Stockton-on-Tees , Great Britain ) is a British actor who became internationally known for his role as Detective Sgt. Gavin Troy in the British crime series Inspector Barnaby ("Midsomer Murders").

Life

Casey is the son of television journalist Luke Casey and grew up in Stockton-on-Tees in north east England. At the age of 14 he played in a youth theater. He attended Gray College at Durham University and graduated with a BA (Bachelor of Arts) degree in English Literature . While studying, he decided to become an actor and was discovered on an award-winning theater tour. He got the role of the police officer Anthony Cox in the nine-part BBC drama series Our Friends in the North , which tells 31 years (1964-1995) from the lives of four friends from Newcastle-upon-Tyne . After appearing in Midsomer Murders , he played firefighter Tony Barnes in the ITV fire department series Steel River Blues (2004). Daniel Casey married in 2005 and the couple have one child.
