Daniel Frasnay

Daniel Frasnay (* 1928 in Paris ; † 2019) is a French photographer.

Life

At the end of the war, the 16-year-old began working as a handyman for portrait photographer Roger Carlet . At the beginning of the 1950s he started his career as a photographer of the “Grands Spectacle” in the Parisian nightlife. He became a house photographer in the Lido nightclub and there documentary of the major revues, ballet and theater performances. Since 1953 he has been working as a freelance photojournalist for various well-known photo agencies and magazines.

Some of his photos appeared in the 1956 volume Paris la Nuit , of which around 1.5 million copies were sold worldwide. In the late 1960s, Frasnay ​​began to concentrate on portraits of writers and artists, with whom he had long-standing friendships.
