Daniel Quaye (born December 25, 1980 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian football player .

Career

As a youth, Quaye played in the Ghanaian capital Accra at the Great Olympics , before moving to Hearts of Oak SC at the age of 17 , the dominant club in the Ghanaian league since the late 1990s. Accordingly, the defender was able to celebrate five championship titles and two national cup victories in the following years. There were also international club successes such as winning the CAF Champions League in 2000 , the African Super Cup 2001 and the CAF Confederation Cup 2005. In 2007 he left the club after 9 years and switched to the badly ailing one and the last one in the table for the rest of the year Chongqing Lifan , which he left at the end of the season.

In 2008 he was in 3 clubs, first he returned to the Accra Hearts of Oak , then again for a short time to the Chongqing Lifan , before he also left it. In the 2008/09 season he played for the club Sekondi Wise Fighters . After he turned his back on this club, he moved to Yanbian FC for two seasons . There he played 55 times and scored one goal. Since 2012 he has played for the Beijing Baxy club , where he has played 14 games and scored two goals.

In early 2013, Quaye returned to his home country, where he initially joined Bechem United . He then moved to his former club Hearts of Oak. Since 2015 he has been playing for a hometown club Great Olympics again .

National team

Quaye came on May 5, 2001 for his first use for the Ghanaian national soccer team in a World Cup qualifier. After that, however, it was not until the next World Cup qualification for the 2006 World Cup in Germany that he was reappointed. After four qualifying games he was also in Ghana's World Cup squad , but was not used. He has played a total of 7 times for his home country so far.
