The Danjaq, LLC (formerly Danjaq S. A.) is a holding company based in Santa Monica , California , which for the copyright and trademark of James Bond is responsible -Characters, products and other materials. Danjaq currently belongs to the family of Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli , one of the founders of the successful James Bond film series. Danjaq also owns Eon Productions Ltd. who produced the James Bond films.

Danjaq was founded by Harry Saltzman and Broccoli in 1962 after the first James Bond film, James Bond Chases Dr. No , had been published. The company was given the name Danjaq SA , which was derived from the first names of the wives of Broccoli and Saltzman (Dana and Jacqueline).

Due to financial difficulties, Saltzman sold his part of Danjaq to United Artists in 1975 . From 1977 the film The Spy Who Loved Me began a division of copyright between Danjaq and United Artists, which presumably continues to this day.

Some such as B. John Cork, author of a number of books on the history of the Bond films and producer of documentaries for the special edition DVD, claims Broccoli bought that stake back about ten years later. Cork further indicated that MGM / UA has an exclusive rental business with Danjaq.

Although Danjaq owns the rights to the Bond footage, the copyrights for the films (beginning with Dr. No ) are owned by Danjaq and UA. The trademarks associated with the Bond books are held by Ian Fleming Publications .
