In 1913, the municipal Dante bath was opened as a men's bath. When a women's and girls' area was added in 1920, it became accessible to both men and women.

Water polo competitions were held here at the 1972 Summer Olympics . The changing building dates from the 1972 Summer Olympics and still shows the signals from that time; the stands with the floodlights also date from this time.

In 1999/2000 and 2007/2008 the Dante bath was renovated and redesigned on a large scale. In 2000 it was given a wellness area with water massage and whirlpool in the stadium area. The summer facilities were redesigned until 2008, whereby the historical trees with a high shadow effect were largely preserved. The water area was reduced by a pool, a large children's water play area with a paddling pool for children was created. The bathroom would be completely built in steel without tiles and with a flushing facility.
