Danutė Budreikaitė

Danutė Budreikaitė (born May 16, 1953 in Vilnius ) is a liberal Lithuanian politician and economist . Budreikaitė has been a member of the European Parliament for the Darbo partija party since 2004 , a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) and the Renew Europe Group, and Vice-Chair of the Development Committee.

Budreikaitė studied economics at the University of Vilnius from 1972 to 1978 and studied for her doctorate from 1981 to 1986 at the Moscow Central Institute of Economic Mathematics. Budreikaitė was from 1977 to 1980 and 1987 to 1997 senior research assistant at the Economic Institute of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and from 1995 to 1998 project manager at the corporate restructuring agency “Consulta”. She then worked between 1998 and 1999 in the EU's Transform program, which she completed as a lecturer in European integration. In addition, Budreikaitė worked between 1998 and 2003 as a consultant and head of the Economic Integration Department in the European Committee of the Lithuanian government. From 2001 to 2004 she was also a lecturer in European economic integration at theVilnius University . Budreikaitė was a member of the Council of the Labor Party in 2004 and an adviser to the Budget and Finance Committee in the administration of the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania.
