Dara Calleary (born May 5, 1973 in Ballina , County Mayo ) is an Irish politician and has been a member of the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament , since 2007 .

Calleary attended St. Oliver Plunkett's National School and St Muredach's College in Ballina. He then studied at Trinity College, Dublin , where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business & Politics .

From 1997 to 2007 he was a member of Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle , the board of Fianna Fáil.

In the elections in May 2007 he was elected for the Fianna Fáil in the Mayo constituency in the 30th Dáil Éireann. In February 2008 he was appointed chairman of Ógra Fianna Fáil , the party's youth organization. He held this office until April 2009 when he was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce.

In July 2020 Calleary was appointed Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine in the Martin government.

He is the son of Seán Calleary and the grandson of Phelim Calleary , who both also sat at Dáil Éireann.
