Bean bean is a cartoon character created by the JJ Darboven company . She is a cartoon character with an advertising background . It is a small human-like figure made of a coffee bean with arms and legs.

It was painted in the later years by the sign painter Erich Meinke. This was the oldest and longest employee of Albert Darboven who had worked for him .

Darbohne is one of the first cartoon characters to be used as a corporate figure. The first volumes appeared as early as 1927 and were continued in the following years. Seven volumes were published in the 1920s and 1930s. The beans volumes were continued in the 1950s and 1960s. Publication was discontinued after 24 volumes. These volumes were drawn by Hans Held .

In the 1990s, the Darbohne was revived by Albert Darboven . Since 2006 there has been another comic series, nine volumes of which have been published (as of May 2019).
